This week, we celebrate Architect Gboyega as the RSSOSA (Remo Secondary School Old Students Association) Personality of the Week. His journey, which began on June 4, 1989, in Sagamu, Ogun State, has been nothing short of inspiring. Born into the Ogunsona family to Mr. and Mrs. Ogunsona, Gboyega's story is not just about his life but also his unwavering dedication to the art of architecture and his commitment to pushing boundaries.
The foundations of Architect Gboyega's remarkable journey were laid at Remo Secondary School. During his time there, he showcased his leadership qualities by serving as the Sport Prefect. This role began in JSS 2 and continued until his graduation in 2008. His dedication extended to representing the school in various competitions, including the AIONIAN Group of Schools Competition and the Ogun State National Sports Festival in 2006. However, his most cherished memory was the victorious run at the Sagamu Day Marathon competition for his school. It was during these formative years that he forged deep friendships with Abisoye Ogunsami, Oguntade Kehinde, Tayo Onabanjo, and Oyemade Williams T. His favorite teacher, Mrs. Adetomiwa, played a significant role in nurturing his educational journey.
Yet, it was Architect. Gboyega's unwavering passion for building and architectural designs that set him on an exceptional course. The next chapter in his life saw him enrolled at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, where he pursued a degree in Architecture. In 2016, he graduated with honors, marking a significant milestone in his educational and career journey.
What captivates Architect Gboyega most about architecture is its innate ability to challenge established norms and conventions while crafting buildings that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also remarkably functional. His journey, from the sports fields of Remo Secondary School to the architectural studios of Olabisi Onabanjo University, is a testament to his commitment to reshaping the architectural landscape with innovative and functional designs.
