Meet our Personality of the Week Agnes Bukayo Onamade (née Dada), a woman of quiet strength, integrity, and determination whose life journey reflects discipline, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Born on October 10th, 1955, Agnes began her academic journey at Saint Paul School, Makun, Sagamu, where she studied from 1963 to 1968. A bright and focused pupil, she stood out for her quiet nature and commitment to learning.
In January 1970, just as Nigeria emerged from the Civil War, she was admitted into the prestigious Remo Secondary School. She belonged to the 1970–1974 set, completing her secondary education in four and a half years due to the nationwide shift in the educational system in 1973. Known among her peers as a calm and law-abiding student, Agnes was often seen with her books and took pride in being studious. In fact, she became known for diligently recording the names of noise makers, a responsibility that only the most trusted students were given.
Her favorite subject was Economics, and her academic curiosity set the tone for her future achievements.
After graduating, she wasted no time stepping into the professional world. In 1975, she began working with VAC of Nigeria Ltd, starting off at Kingsway Stores as a Salesgirl.
Her strong work ethic and commitment soon earned her a transfer to ATB, another division of the company. Over the years, she rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as Assistant Managing Administrator, a position she held until 1991, when she decided to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams.
Today, Agnes is a successful businesswoman and a proud Sales Distributor for top beverage companies including Nigerian Breweries, Guinness Nigeria, and Trophy. Her success in business is a testament to her focus, discipline, and ability to grow through consistency.
Despite her professional success, Agnes remains grounded. She is a lover of traditional "swallow" dishes and has a soft spot for the color purple, which perhaps reflects her royal poise and quiet confidence.
She is married to Barrister Kolawole Onamade, and together they have built a life founded on values, respect, and mutual support.
